HIV/AIDS- SRHThe effect of the HIV/AIDS is devastating for Ethiopia’s developmental progress. The HIV infection rate for youth, particularly for young women, continues to be unacceptably high. TaYA is committed to continue its work to address HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health issues through multi-faceted behavioral change.

HIV/AIDS issues present barriers to Ethiopia’s youth’s health and well being. Per the 2008 statistics provided by Ethiopian government to the United Nations, Ethiopia has the 6th largest number of people living with AIDS highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world of 2.2% (UNAIDS). The males’ rate is 3%, while the females rate 4.4%. The urban areas have an HIV/AIDS incidence rate of 10.5%, while the rural areas have an incidence rate of 1.9%.
